Can the negative lead from the Orion go directly to the negative post on the starter battery or is it better to find another chassis grounding point?

It needs to go to busbar that is common to both battery systems. We don't want to drill lots of holes in the chassis so just drilling one and connecting a busbar to it is how to avoid drilling lots of holes. You dont want multiple connections on your battery terminals either because that quickly gets messy.
