Yes the MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 2x120V Inverter/Charger can be mounted lying flat on its back. Its not ideal because it leaves it open to getting drips of water on its front, which is not waterproof. Its also not ideal for cooling. When mounted upright the fans augment the natural convection but when mounted lying flat its all fans. It works though. You can help by making sure the area it is located in has adequate ventilation. If it gets too hot it will shut itself down.
