Installing the Victron PMP122305100 MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 2x120V Inverter/Charger on its edge would be difficult because of the way that it mounts but installing it lying on its back is possible. The cooling doesn't work quite so well this way. When its mounted upright the natural convection is augmented by the fans but on its back its all fans. Because of that you have to make sure the compartment it is located in is adequately ventilated. It will turn itself down or off if it gets too hot.
