If the max alternator output is around 65-70- amps which isolator rating would be recommended, the 100 or the 200? A tech advised me to double the output for the isolator. Is this correct?

If your alternator is rated for 70 amps you can use the 100 amp isolator. Its not a bad idea to up size electrical equipment so its not always at its limit, but a 70 amp alternator is well within the capability of a 100 amp isolator.
