Balmar only recommend the ARS-5 regulator for their smaller 6 series alternators. All the larger alternators take more field current and require you to use the MC-618-H or its 24 volt equivalent.
Is the ARS-5 regulator's max field current limited? Can it handle a large alternator? Balmar ARS-5 Regulator 12 Volts (No wiring harness)
