It can go in the engine compartment of a diesel boat. The Victron Energy ORI122424110 Orion-Tr 12/24-10A Isolated DC-DC converter is not ignition protected so you can't do this in a gasoline boat. This device is intended for use as a power supply when you have a 12 volt power source and a 24 volt load. It is not a battery charger because it only puts out a constant voltage. If you want something for battery charging you should look at our DC DC Chargers.
