For a 24v alternator battery wire, such as the one used in the Balmar 98-24-220-IG-BL Alternator 24 Volts 220 Amps, the circuit protection level should be equal to or less than the wire's ampacity. It's also advisable to have the protection level slightly higher than the 24 volt alternator output, ideally around 30% more for optimal performance. I suggest a 300 amp fuse.
