The MultiPlus will work without the cover but since it is an important safety feature to prevent contact with the terminals you would be liable if anyone electrocutes themselves because you left the cover off.
Will the PMP242200100 24/2000/50-50 120V operate without the removable panels over the bottom end of the unit, where the connections are? Victron Energy PMP242200100 MultiPlus 24/2000/50-50 120V VE.Bus (NEW MODEL)
I'd like to use some of that inner space for cable bend radius. The inverter/charger would be inside a larger housing so there's isn't a risk of accidental contact.
