The Victron Energy SCC110030210 Smart Solar MPPT 100/30 Charge Controller and the BMV perform entirely different tasks. The MPPT can display the battery voltage and the current produced by the solar panel but that's all. It lacks knowledge of the system's other components, the battery size, or other charge sources and loads. Hence, it can't provide state of charge or time to go data. Conversely, the BMV monitors all power entering and exiting the battery. It's aware of the battery size, enabling it to provide state of charge and time to go readings, as well as volts and amps in and out. Therefore, these two devices offer distinct, yet complementary, functionalities.
