These Victron Smart Lithium batteries do not have an internal BMS. They all use an external BMS. This makes installation a bit more involved because there are more parts to the puzzle but it gives you a lot more control over your system and how it operates, gives you advance warning of any shutdown, makes it easier to incorporate an alternator into the system, and in the case of a marine application, helps to make your system more compliant with ABYC standards.
