Indeed, the Balmar 60-120-J10 Alternator -12 Volt 120 Amp J10 Pulley does require an external regulator. We recommend the MC-618-H regulator for its superior features. However, for a simpler setup, the ARS-5-H is suitable. The 60-120 model has an internal regulator, activated by the brown wire, intended for emergency use, not daily operation.
