You could use this on the Yanmar 4JH4-TE engine and it would fit. However this one is specifically designed for the 3YM engines and has a shortened output terminal. For the Yanmar 4JH4-TE you might as well get the correct one with the standard output terminal which is the XT-DF-170-J10 You will of course also need to get the appropriate pulley conversion kit to change your engine pulleys over to J10
