This breaker is for two wires. If it is being used for 120 volt AC the two wires would be hot and neutral. If it is being used for 240 volt AC the two wires might both be hot, L1 and L2. If its being used in a DC circuit the two wires would be positive and negative. We never interrupt the ground wire so it never connects to this breaker. The two legs are always tied together, if the breaker trips it interrupts both legs.
