The alternator pulley on this Yanmar 3HM35 kit fits a 17mm shaft. This is the most common shaft diameter for most small case alternators. However if you are trying this with a brand of alternator other than Balmar there's no assurance that the alignment will be perfect. As you can see in the photo below the Balmar alternator has a recess and the Balmar pulley has a boss that fits into the recess. If your alternator isn't like this you will need a different pulley. For Hitachi alternators we sell a special pulley, which has to be ordered specially.
