This regulator can be used with any externally regulated P type alternator. P type means the field terminal is expecting a positive voltage. I am not aware of anyone who has done this, but we sell a lot less 48 volt regulators so its probably just that there aren't enough out there yet. Converting an internally regulated alternator is a job for a professional. Its only worth the effort if the alternator is of sufficiently heavy duty construction to allow it to be pushed a bit harder than would happen with its internal regulator.
