Is the Balmar 621-VUP-MC-100-SV Alternator and regulator kit a suitable replacement for Balmar 621-70-SR-IG with an ARS-5 regulator?
Balmar 621-VUP-MC-100-SV Alternator and regulator kit -12 Volt 100 Amp Single Pulley
My alternator was acting up so I had it tested. It's dead. My grandson killed it playing with the battery switch while we were motoring. I still like him--he's three and loves buttons and dials. Your kit on this page looks like it would fit right in and give me the ability to charge lithium batteries. Is this a reasonable assumption? I want to go with your judgment, not mine.

The alternator is the same except 100 amps instead of 70. They discontinued the 70 amp models. Then they renamed the alternators to get rid of the IG (isolated ground) designation since all the 6 series are isolated ground, and they got rid of the SR (self regulating) designation because all the 6 series have a backup internal regulator. They added a designation for the pulley so SV stands for single V pulley. They also got rid of kits with the ARS regulator. You can still buy the ARS5-H regulator by itself but not as a kit. To sum up, the 621-VUP-MC-100-SV is the nearest equivalent to the 621-70-SR-IG plus and ARS regulator
