The leakage trip amperage is 30 mA. This low trip threshold helps detect small leakages, preventing potential electrical hazards. The Blue Sea ELCI provides overcurrent and leakage protection per ABYC E-11 for whole boat shore power protection. The trip setting of 30 mA was chosen as a compromise between avoiding nuisance tripping if it was set too low, and being potentially fatal, if it set too high. Despite that many older boats will have trouble with tripping if their electrical systems are not in good shape.
