A key disadvantage of a battery isolator is the voltage drop it can introduce, which may result in less efficient charging of secondary batteries. This particular battery isolator, the Victron ARG200301020 Argofet 200 Amp Diode Battery Isolator for three batteries, uses low loss FET's and so the voltage drop is less than for comparable isolators. It does however have cooling fins meaning there is some loss which ends up as heat and which needs to be dissipated.
