An isolated DC-DC converter is an electronic device that converts a source of direct current (DC) from one voltage level to another while electrically isolating the input from the output using a transformer. This isolation helps protect sensitive components, improves safety, and reduces noise in the system. These isolated converters have two wires in and two wires out and there is no electrical connection between the input and the output. They often get used for sensitive electronics to remove electrical noise from the power supplies.
