Yes you can put another battery on top as long as it is on a shelf and not putting weight on the lower battery. Make sure all the terminals are adequately covered. You need to pay particular attention to make sure that the structure doesn't collapse and fall, shorting out the terminals of the lower battery. This is even more important if this is in a motor vehicle and it might get in an auto accident.
