Heat is not a problem. Yes you should be able to plug three in but then you wont have a port available if you want to connect the Touch 50 or Touch 70 display. The typical way of dealing with this is to get a USB Hub, connect the VE Direct to USB adaptors to it, and then you just have one item to plug in to the Cerbo
