Is there some reason that Source Selector Switches and MPTPs take bare wire terminations instead of ring terminals
Blue Sea 9011 AC Selector AC Selector Switch,120V 63A OFF +2
Wherever possible I have used the adhesive heat shrink type terminations for marine wire as the seal the wire from water ingress. Bare wire as in many bonding connections eventually wicks water and subsequent corrosion into and down the wire. Thus I am uncomfortable with the bare wire connections on the Blue Sea AC Source Selector Switch and the solar connections to my MPTP. I am wondering if these bare wire connections are intrinsically better connections and that is why they are configured that way? Is there science and engineering behind this?

Nobody asked me when they designed these switches. I would however point out that they need to be located in a totally dry area where there is no possibility of water every getting in. If necessary put them in a waterproof box. They are widely used in many applications including industrial equipment, they are not made specifically for marine use and they need to be kept totally dry.
