The cable is designed to extend data cables from a Victron Smart Lithium Battery or a Victron Lithium NG Battery to the Battery Management System (BMS). The cables are sold in pairs because each battery has two data cables. The battery cables daisy chain from one battery to the next and then the two ends come back to the BMS. Because the cables on the battery are only about 1 ft long they are usually too short to reach the BMS, hence the need for extension cables. These are available in 1 meter, 2 meter, 3 meter and 5 meter lengths.
