This 500 amp switch is rated up to 500 Amps, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications and ensuring reliable performance under demanding conditions. Note that to meet this rating you must use doubled up 4/0 cables. This is because the cable is used to help remove heat from the switch. If you use different cables the rating is different, see below:
- When used with 2/0 awg the continuous rating is 225 amps, the 5-minute rating is 400 amps and the 30-second rating is 1000 amps
- When used with 4/0 awg the continuous rating is 300 amps, the 5-minute rating is 400 amps and the 30-second rating is 1100 amps
- When used with double 4/0 awg the continuous rating is 500 amps, the 5-minute rating is 700 amps and the 30-second rating is 1600 amps
