This shunt is widely used for:

Battery state-of-charge monitoring in solar, marine, or RV setups.
Alternator output tracking with regulators like Wakespeed WS500PRO or the Arco Zeus
Integration into Victron's VE.Bus systems for energy management
High-current DC circuits up to 500A, such as in electric vehicles or backup power.

The shunt by itself does not do anything, it requires an external meter to connect to it. In the case of Victron units it is only useful as a replacement for one that was damaged or corroded. The shunt does not come with a circuit board, that is sold separately. In the case of Wakespeed or Arco alternator regulators they can interpret the information it produces without additional equipment. It can be used with any third party meter designed for a 500 amp 50 mV shunt.
