It's designed to charge a 12V or 24V auxiliary (service) battery from a vehicle's 12V or 24V alternator/starter battery, especially in vehicles with smart or intelligent alternators (like Euro 5/6 engines or Mercedes Sprinter vans). It steps up or down DC voltages (Buck-Boost functionality) to provide stable charging without overloading the alternator or interfering with vehicle electronics, and includes engine-running detection to prevent draining the starter battery.
