The MC4 model (like this one) uses convenient MC4 connectors for PV inputs, which simplify installation and give greater safety. Because the solar voltage can be up to 450 volts it is not safe to handle the wires when they are live. The MC4 connectors shield the conductor even if it is unplugged. The Tr (terminal) version allows larger wires (up to 16 mm²) for oversizing arrays but requires more manual wiring. The MC4 also adds onboard PV surge protection and a low-voltage monitoring connector per channel. The MC4 is the updated production model as of 2025.
