It comes with a 5-year prepaid global data plan using AT&T and T-Mobile networks in supported regions (coverage expanding; check the manual for your country). LTE-M is low-power and works in remote/off-grid areas, including moving vehicles. Data is low-volume (every 15 min for key metrics, full data daily), and VRM access is free.
