A LiFePO4 battery offers significantly more usable capacity than any comparable lead acid battery. You can safely discharge a lithium battery up to 80-100% of its rated capacity, whereas a lead-acid (AGM/Flooded) battery can only be discharged to about 50% without severely shortening its life. For example, a 100Ah lithium battery offers similar usable power to a 200Ah AGM bank. When designing systems at PKYS we plan on discharging lithium batteries to 80%. By not running the batteries totally down their life is extended and 80% is a good compromise between long life and initial cost. Unlike lead acid batteries Lithium batteries can be run down completely from time to time without shortening their life. Statistics are just based on the average discharge.
