The switch is momentary but the solenoid is latching. When you release the switch it returns to the middle position, then there are two ways to push it. One push of the switch turns the solenoid on and the other turns it off. The actual switch is Blue Sea 2145 SPDT Remote Control Contura Switch - (ON)-OFF-(ON)
