Absolutely, Switches have some internal resistance and at high current they generate heat. The wire or cable helps to remove the heat from the switch, so the bigger the cable the more current the switch can tolerate. Most of the switches on the PKYS site are rated quite favorably due to the fact that the manufacturer has specified that really large cables are required to meet the rating.
