A BatteryProtect is a programmable solid-state relay designed to disconnect a battery from non-essential loads before it is completely discharged. This prevents permanent damage to the battery and ensures there is enough power left to crank an engine (in starter battery applications).
The BatteryProtects have two applications which can be selected in the programming menu.
When used with conventional batteries like lead acid, AGM or gel, the program gets the BatteryProtect to disconnect the load before the battery gets too low in order to prevent damage to the battery. It is able to do this based on battery voltage.
When used with Lithium batteries the BatteryProtect is programmed to disconnect the battery based on an external signal, normally from the Battery Management System.
