An ACR (also known as a Battery Combiner) is an "intelligent" switch that manages the charging of multiple battery banks. It automatically "combines" (connects) your batteries when it senses a charging source—like an alternator or solar panel—is active. When the charging stops and the voltage drops, it "isolates" (disconnects) the batteries to ensure that using your house electronics won't accidentally drain your engine's starting battery.
