You have to read the specifications carefully. Many breakers are "dual rated" for both AC and DC. DC breakers have a more demanding job to do because there is arcing at the contacts as the breaker trips. This is less of a problem with AC because the voltage is zero multiple times a second due to the sine wave. A breaker rated for AC only cannot be used in a DC circuit for this reason.
