A 30 Amp service provides approximately 3,600 Watts of power on a single 120V leg. A 50 Amp 120/240V service provides two separate 120V legs, each capable of 50 Amps. This totals 12,000 Watts of power—more than three times the capacity of a 30 Amp system. This is necessary for larger boats or RVs with multiple air conditioners, electric stoves, or clothes dryers.
