- High Interrupt Capacity: With a rating of 10,000 AIC at 14V (and roughly 5,000 AIC at 32V), they have a higher interrupt rating than Mega fuses, making them safer for larger battery banks.
- Visual Status: Unlike Mega or Class-T fuses, MRBF fuses have a clear window so you can easily see if the fuse element is blown.
The main disavantages of MRBF Terminal Fuses are:
- Terminal Height: Adding an MRBF holder to a battery post increases the height of the terminal. In some low-clearance battery boxes, the top of the fuse holder might hit the lid.
- Single Connection: Standard holders only allow for one or two fused circuits per battery post. If you have many loads, a traditional busbar/fuse block is more organized.
- Replacement Hassle: To replace a blown fuse, you must remove the nut holding the main battery cable, which can be inconvenient if the battery is in a difficult-to-reach location.
