1" or 2" Single Foot: Common on older engines. The 1" version is known as Motorola-style – Westerbeke, Lehman, Hino, Pathfinder. The 2" version is known as the Delco style and is found on Volvo, Deere, Perkins, Mercruiser, GM-based engines. The alternators that we sell at PKYS come with a removable part (the silver colored piece in the photo below) that converts the alternator from 1" to 2" foot.

3.15" Dual Foot (Saddle Mount): Having two feet gives the alternator better leverage to prevent twisting when the belt is tightened up. Typical for Yanmar, this is often referred to as the Yanmar Mount or the Hitachi mount although it is found on many other smaller engines like Westerbeke, Lehman, Perkins

4" Dual Foot Found on larger engines, the 4" apart feet give better leverage to prevent the alternator from getting twisted when the belt is tensioned. Known as the J180 style it is found on larger engines like John Deere, Cummins and Caterpillar and some smaller engine like Volvo.

The bottom line here is that you have to look at what you have got now and find something that matches, because you cant adapt the engine very easily. Checkout our full range of alternators at PKYS
