How many batteries are you trying to charge, one or two? Do you have one battery on the trailer that acts as both the breakaway battery and operates your winch? If so, yes this will charge that battery from the tow vehicle. We recommend using an isolated DC-DC charger, like the Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-18A Isolated DC-DC charger, when charging a trailer battery from the tow vehicle.
