The Orion XS50 is a battery to battery DC charger. Your alternator output need to go to the engine start battery and the Orion XS50 goes between the engine start battery and the house battery.
Can I run an internally regulated stock Volvo alternator as the input to the Orion XS 12/12 50A dc converter? Victron ORI121217050 Orion XS 12/12-50 non-isolated DC-DC charger Smart DC Chargers
The output will be to an LFP house battery bank.
