Yes you can, in fact we even sell a set of washers for just that purpose. Our washers are 0.5mm thick and we sell them in a set of five which gives you a max of 2.5mm. Set of 5 Spacer Washers for alternator pulley alignment. That's about as many washers as will go there because if you try to put more you start to run out of threads on the shaft. The nut that holds the pulley on needs to fully engage the threads. If you need to move the pulley further forward than that you can put washers at the base of the alternator and move it forward a bit.
